Skype is a peer to peer program which is used to make audio and/or video calls. It is also used for instant messaging and has additional features such as files transfer and video transfer. It can be used for making landline and mobile phone calls but for a certain call price rate.
Skype was made by estonian developers, Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu, and Jaan Tallinn, Danish Janus Friis, and Swedish Niklas Zennström.
Skype transitioned into becoming a program that was used by 600 million users which was then bought for $8.5 billion by Microsoft.
Microsoft is the current owner of Skype.
