The name of the RBE10K Project is contentious as a result of the inclusion of the accronim RBE as part of the name. Since TZM and TVP have been invested for several years in the advocacy of a form of RBEM which is dissimilar than that of the RBE10K Project, should the project become popular, the variances introduced by the project to the concept of a RBE using the same name could cause confusion and adverse effects in the perception of the objectives TZM and TVP have pursued throughout the years. Considering the longer history and invested effort in promoting TVP's original form of RBE, some TZM activists consider appropriate requesting that the RBE10K Project be renamed to prevent such potential confusion and adverse effects in popular perception.

Positive impact for The RBE10K Project

The incluson of the accronim RBE in The RBE10K Project name makes it easy for activists of TVP and TZM to identify this project as an implementation project of an RBEM system, or at least identify the project as something they may be interested in follow-up upon. This interest is paramount for the RBE10K Project to engage a large and knoledgeable enough community capable of developing the action plan required for the implementation of the experimental settlement, and also for the engagement of the 10,000 volunteers required.

Negative impact for The RBE10K Project

Some TZM and TVP activists feel concern that the form of RBE that RBE10K Project proposes does not align with the notions of RBE/RBEM that TZM and TVP have been advocating over the years, and fear negative consequences in the perception of the public should the RBE10K project become sufficiently popular. This concern creates tension among potential supporters, who instead of contributing to the project feel compelled to insist that the name must be changed, distracting other supporters and potential supporters in engaging in debates around the subject. This costs the project valuable wasted resources that could have much greater productivity should the issue disappear.

Positive impact for the Natural environment

The inclusion of the RBE label as part of the name of the RBE10K Project maximises the engagement and interest of the whole international community of RBEM system supporters. Maximising engagment in this community also maximises the chances of developing an optimal plan of implementation, and the engagement of maximally committed volunteers for the experimental settlement. The experimental settlement, per se, has the beneficial impact of removing the environmental cost of unsustainability resulting from the average modern lifestyles of 10,000 people. The success of the experimental settlement has the potential to set in action an exponential creation of new settlements, each of which would save the environment from similar environmental costs saved by the experimental settlement, and limited only by public interest in the lifestyle offered. Considering the envisaged desirability of the lifestyle planned, the likelyhood of motivating an at least significant, and potentially overwhelming majority of people, the inclusion of an RBE label in the name of the project has the potential to achieve global or almost global sustainability in a short timeframe.

Negative impact for the Natural environment

The RBE10K Project's experimental settlement has a potential for failure. The expansion process also has a potential for failure or stallment as a result of popular disinterest in opting-out through through this system, or other problems (e.g. political persecution). The assosiation of the label RBE with the name of the project can have a negative perception in the minds of the general public, causing a rejection of the proposals of TVP and TZM, and in consequence reducing the likelyhood of causing the necessary critical mass required for the beginning of a process of gradual transformation of society towards an RBE, which has the potential to achieve global sustainability in an uncertain future.
