Alexander: Hi there! First of all i want to say that i am not a software developer and my english is rather poor. But i studied social science in university and i am interested in social aspects of the current project. As i see there no progress in developing of IMAR, more of that there is no discussion on the topic. As i said, i am not a developer, but i want to give an impulse to work out the problem.

I dont think that for developing a software we need to know EXACT number and variety of human needs. We know general needs, as they are described in this wiki, also we know that we should have connection between supply and demand, connection of "enterprises" and distribution points and so on. So, i think if somebody here CAN make a code, we should start. OR NOT.

If to imagine that in other aspects RBE10K will pass as planned, but the IMAR won't be ready yet, i think we just can try to use the same instruments for production management. If production in a settlement will be rather simple, i think it is possible. For example to use Excel (Libre Office Calc etc) sheets for gathering information, bettermeans or even wiki for long-term coordination and Skype, jabber for instant coordination.

I don't no if if it real, i think before starting to develop the soft and even before making a requirements specification, we should make clear some points.

1) What we are going to produce? and what we have to get from outside.

  1. - food
  2. - close?
  3. - etc

outside

  1. -medicine
  2. -complicated products

2) How?

What will be a type of enterprises?

  1. - gardens etc
  2. - fablabs?

If production will be complex, we shuld think of management type and social roles (cause i don't think that fordist management type suits RBE philopshy)

- create a list of needed buyings to start a building of dwellings and enterprises

3) Labour force

As probably we cant choose people by concrete occupation (profession) there at least must be people capable to train people. Maybe we should gather some books, lections etc and ask possible settlers to self-study.

Will be there a DUTY to work? For example in monetary economic, u dont work - u don't eat. I understand that settlers will be self-motivated persons, but we should think of possible problems. For example one man is comfortable to work all day, one will think that 4 hours is ok. Should there be DISCIPLINE? If yes... then what kind of it?

4) amortization

If there will be no income, how we can make amortization?

THEN

If we will decide that we NEED special software for IMAR, there are two ways.

1) Make soft ourselves (probably it will be reasonable to start a side project fot croudsourced IMAR (that can be interesting for different communities) soft to get more support)

2) Use existing systems of ERP software (OpenERP etc).

Thats for beginning
